The Folk Collection Performing at Temple Ramat Zion Print E-mail
Tony Unger and Ed Labowitz, fell in love with the story, music and three part harmonies of such 1960s music groups as the Kingston Trio, the Limeliters and the Brothers Four, and started a duo that has been performing on and off since then. Mike Sirota, joined the group in 2003, and Bob Packham added his bass to the group in 2005. Together, the group is called The Folk Collection.
The Folk Collection's repertory includes songs like “Blowin' In The Wind,” “Where have all the Flowers Gone?,” “City of New Orleans,” and many other folk classics of the era. “We grew up loving this sort of music, and the turnouts at our shows confirms that there are many baby boomers, as well as older and younger folks, who really like listening to words and harmonies – and joining in when the mood and song fit. We put on a show centered around folk music and good clean jokes,” says Ed Labowitz.
The Folk Collection will be performing in a special concert at 8:15 PM, Saturday September 13 at Temple Ramat Zion, 17655 Devonshire Street, Northridge. For ticket pricing and more information, please contact the temple office at 818 360-1881.
